Understanding Boudoir Photography:
Introduction to the genre: Participants will learn about the history and purpose of boudoir photography, including its emphasis on intimacy, sensuality, and self-expression.
Ethical considerations: Participants will learn about the importance of professionalism, respect, and consent when working in the boudoir genre.
Setting Up a Boudoir Shoot:
Location selection: Participants will learn how to choose appropriate locations for boudoir shoots, including studios, bedrooms, or other intimate settings.
Lighting considerations: Participants will learn how to use natural light, artificial lighting, and modifiers to create flattering lighting setups for boudoir photography.
Props and wardrobe: Participants will learn how to select props and wardrobe items that enhance the mood and style of a boudoir shoot.
Posing and Directing:
Posing techniques: Participants will learn how to direct models to pose naturally and expressively, emphasizing body confidence and comfort.
Flattering angles: Participants will learn how to find and photograph flattering angles for different body types, emphasizing beauty and self-assurance.
Expression and mood: Participants will learn how to evoke different emotions and moods in boudoir photographs through facial expressions and body language.
Composition and Framing:
Composition principles: Participants will learn how to compose boudoir images effectively, using techniques such as leading lines, symmetry, and negative space.
Framing and cropping: Participants will learn how to frame and crop boudoir images to highlight the subject's beauty and create visual interest.
Creating intimacy: Participants will learn how to use composition to create a sense of intimacy and connection in boudoir photographs.
Client Communication and Collaboration:
Client consultation: Participants will learn how to conduct client consultations to understand their preferences, expectations, and comfort levels.
Building rapport: Participants will learn how to establish trust and rapport with clients to create a comfortable and empowering atmosphere during the shoot.
Collaboration and feedback: Participants will learn how to collaborate with clients to ensure their vision is realized while also providing guidance and feedback as needed.
Hands-on Practice:
Participants will have the opportunity to practice boudoir photography techniques with a professional model, applying the concepts learned during the workshop.
The Introduction to Boudoir Photography workshop is taught by professional photographer Ed Sochacki. Each class is 90 minutes in length with an option for an additional hour of shooting (additional fee applies) with a professional model. Class size is limited to a maximum of four photographers.
